A Colourful Utility Room Transformation

Fritha from @tigerlillyquinn

Once a “junk room” hidden behind a sheet when guests came over, this space has gone from somewhere to stash boxes to somewhere worth showing off! Fritha used R2 to create an upstairs utility with built-in storage for towels and bedding, plus a welcome second toilet and basin for her family of four. Our Paragon 500 vanity in Aloe Green adds a fresh pop of colour to a room that now works hard and looks good doing it...

What was the main challenge with your old bathroom?

"When we moved into our home, we found ourselves with a slightly oddly shaped room that we weren’t quite sure what to do with. For a couple of years, it became a place to store anything that didn’t have a home elsewhere, our “junk room”, as we called it! Eventually, we worked out how to make the most of the space, using the awkward triangular section to house a washer-dryer and leaving the rest of the room free to become a beautiful washroom."

What was the brief for the bathroom renovation?

"A hidden utility room that was functional but also a beautiful focal point. It’s the first room you see as you come up our stairs, and the bright colour palette always makes me smile."

What inspired your design choices?

"Functional yet beautiful. I like that it has a country cottage feel with a modern twist. I especially love the design of the basin unit and how it creates a focal point in the room."

What makes the biggest difference in your new bathroom?

"With two children, having a second toilet is definitely the biggest difference! The storage above the washer-dryer has been so useful, too. We all use this bathroom to brush our teeth, so the extra storage below the basin has been brilliant for keeping our everyday essentials close to hand."
