Victorian Style With A Modern Twist
Sheree from @chez.shez
Three years ago Sheree bought her dream Victorian property, but the bathroom desperately needed an update. Retaining the existing style was a must, alongside updating the fixtures and fittings.
Read on to hear the whole story.

Why did you start your bathroom renovation?
I moved into my house three years ago and the bathroom… wasn’t great (to put it mildly), but as a bathroom is such a big investment I’ve had to save to get a proper bathroom renovation. I’m all for DIY but I think bathrooms definitely call for the professionals.
I’m glad that was forced to wait, as it meant I had to live with the existing bathroom for a long time and so I knew exactly how it worked. I knew what functioned and what didn’t, so I was really clear with what I needed. Functionality is key in all rooms, but especially in a bathroom.

What inspired your design choices?
I like in a Victorian terraced house, so I always try to align with the period of my home while adding a modern touch. Luckily I love Victorian style.
That’s why I chose the Halcyon range in chrome for my bathroom, including the exposed shower, bath mixer and basin taps. Chrome is timeless and always looks good, I love that the Halcyon range is traditional but sleek, so it doesn’t feel too ‘period’, just good classic style.
I wanted a bathroom that wouldn’t date in a few years, as it’s a big monetary investment. So I went for Victorian/deco style baron and loo and kept my old cast iron bathtub. I’ve kept the walls muted but added pops of colour. I’m really happy with how it looks now, it’s my dream bathroom.

Luxury At Home

What's your favourite part about your new bathroom?
It’s so hard to choose… love my new vanity with hardware and worktop by R2 bathrooms - it’s a luxury I don’t take for granted to have a large bathroom. Also my Halcyon shower feels so luxurious, I’ve never had an overhead shower before, I feel like I’m at a luxe hotel! Having really good quality fixtures really makes a difference - as you’re touching them literally every single day, you can feel the weight and quality and it just makes the room feel elevated.
